Abre Los Ojos Review

Review: Abre Los Ojos

Director: Alejandro Amenábar

Aparently Abre Los Ojos was subject of a Tom Cruise staring Americanization by the name of Vanilla Sky. A comparison might have been appropriate, but I find all things Tom Cruise (and Jullia Roberts for that matter) utterly repellent. So let's just ignore that blockbuster shall we ?

Abre Los Ojos is the tale of Cezar, a rich womanizer who can't have any girl more than one night. After he gets in a car accident his face is mutilated phantom of the opera style and his world is flipped upside down... I can't really tell you more about the plot, without the risk of spoiling it. Just keep in mind this is a sience fiction drama. It is suitable for a wide audience (reading as much or as little into it as you chose).

If you loved Lost Highway then you will surely appreciate this. However, it goes light on the Lynchian dust in the first half, but it works its dosage up towards the end.

While it's not a milestone, I do recommend this one.
