Director: Mary Harron
I despise this movie. No really, I fucking hate it. At first I was thinking that there was not one commendable thing to say about the movie. So I watched it again. I still fucking hate it.
It is so confusing to watch, so I read the book. The book was really good, and made watching the movie a lot easier. I watched the unrated version first, so I must say watch that one if you have the chance. It is better compared to the R-rated version. There is at least some gore (including a pretty graphic sex scene complete with ripping out a girls sex organ with teeth...)
So I don't reccomend this movie at all, but if you are a huge Christain Bale fan, check it out I guess. Or wait and see the new Batman. Whatever.

Personally, I am a huge Kubric fan...I don't prefer anyone to anyone else. I did like the character in the film, but the movie was so poorly made and Chrisitan Bale was so bad in it. I am not even a Christian Bale hater...I've loved him ever since Newsies...but come on. And The Rules of Attraction was a fantastic film, especially compared to this dribble. I could eat some celluloid and shit out a better film than this...or Catwoman...or Texas Chainsaw: The Next Generation.

i don't think much out there could be as bad or owrse than catwoman. utter shite!
still this movie had its moments, personally i love the line "i'm going to stab you and bathe in your blood" great shit. but for the most part this movie is crap, i can't argue with that.

I thought this movie fuckin' ruled. The best parts for me weren't even the killings, but when he'd have a little freak out. Like when he was washing his hands with the gloves on.

If you like Breton Easton Ellis this movie was a great movie as compared with Less than Zero, or The Rules of Attraction. I like how they are all kind of connected even though they were all made in different times. Patrick Batemen is one of the best characters the 80's ever produced. This movie really shows how fucked up people can be, in a normal and not super ultra killer movie. I guess if you are the type of person that prefers Rob Zombie movies to Stanley Kubric films you might not like this one. I personally love quoting this movie and I could watch it over and over again.
