Blood Diner Review

Review: Blood Diner

Director: Jackie Kong

Blood Diner was originaly intended as a tribute film to the 60's slasher movie, Blood Feast, but seemed to have taken a life of it's own at some point. It's the story of Mikey and Georgey Namtut, the owners of a "vegetarian" health food diner in L.A. who murder their customers, but not before feeding them cat, dog and even that of their victim's meat. They are followers of the cult of Lumeria, initiated by their uncle, a talking brain in a jar, attempting to reanimate the ancient goddess Shitar. Yes, the plot doesn't make very much sense, especially with all the blaring inconsistencies. But it doesn't really matter. You'll be laughing your ass off at the seemingly purposeful tactles humor and bad acting, while blood and gratuitous nudity fill the screen. And to go with a one of a kind movie, is a one of a king soundtrack, from the Doo-Wop sound of the Calvenes to the Psychobilly sound of Dino Lee and the even stranger epic sounding organ synth in the background of many scenes. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who can appreciate campy humor and violence. One of my top 5 favorite movies.
