City of the Living Dead Review

Review: City of the Living Dead

Director: Lucio Fulci

I sort of avoided this movie for awhile, assuming it was just one of the slew of bad notd rip-offs, but as soon as I found out it was a Fulci film that was done right along side The Beyond and House by the Cemetary I had to see it... just took me awhile to get around to it. Glad I did though, this movie is a fine example of Fulci's work. It's got the same kind of dark brooding atmospheric tone the Beyond has. The story is great, a gate to hell is opened by a preist hanging himself. People just get the fuck murdered out of them. The Beyond takes the best things about this one (the idea, the visuals, the music) and makes them even better.
