Director: Guillermo del Toro
A year or two ago I saw a movie by Guillermo del Toro I really liked called The Devil's Backbone, eventually I looked into what else he's directed. Cronos was great; it uses a very interesting deviation of the vampire theme from the movie Captain Kronos (reviewed below). Although it gets its name and a portion of its mythology from Captain Kronos, this movie is a very different and unique breed of horror. Along with a great story, Cronos has some beautiful sets and art direction, as well as great characters and acting (I almost always like Ron Perlman's performances). There's only a few directors I've come across that can pull off a dark tone with such style. It's really too bad he had to go all hollywood and start making bull-shit like Mimic and Blade II. All the style in the world can't save a movie with Wesly Snipes and a shity script. Maybe he'll redeem himself with Hellboy next year
