Dawn of the Dead (2004) Review

Review: Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Director: Zack Snyder

This remake, er, sorry, "Reimagining" of the original Dawn, was good. But not just good, it was actually very good. Yes, Yes, I know what you are thinking. 'oh, the zombies, they run and jump like in 28 days later.' Correct. This is not like the original where as in all zombies kind of mutter around in search of 'brains'. But don't let that deter you from this movie. That is why it is NOT a remake. Sure the zombies act differently, and sure the cast doesn't escape in the end via helicopter. And no, there is no gun shop convienently placed in the mall. But, this movie holds its own with more gore, and more blood. Holding back on the special effects with computers and spending more budget on squibs and blanks, this DotD keeps you just as close to the edge of the seat as the original. And just wait for the classic chainsaw scene in this one, you'll see what I mean.
