Deep Red Review

Review: Deep Red

Director: Dario Argento

Deep Red is as good or even better than Susperia. All the right elements come together: gruesome kill scenes, great camera work, amazing locations, sets, props, and the first collaboration with the Goblins. Argento uses color in a way that I've yet to see topped, somehow the color Red seems 10 times as red. Sure the plot kind of sucked (same ol' argento murder-mystery thriller), but that doesn't matter. The story kept you engaged just through the visuals and sound. The DVD has the full directors cut, which might throw you off watching the English version. The additional scenes have to use the Italian dub, so you'll think you're DVD is fucked up when in actuality there just was no English recorded for those scenes. Might be better off just watching the full Italian dub.
