I thought it was kind of a let down. Its basically along the same lines as the first mini-series of the comic, but I remember the story being cooler (course I was probably 13 at the time, that might have something to do with it). The animation wasn't as good as I was hoping for either. Considering all the effort that went into the art of the comic, it should have been a whole lot better. (I think Steven Hughe's artwork was a big early influence on me, I still can't help but draw girls with bra-sizes about two to three times as big as they should be.) The fight scenes were actually pretty boring compared to the kind of stuff you see in animation today. Low-budget animations always use less frames per second, which is fine if it isn't that noticeable. But this one was so choppy that it was a distraction. On the other end of the scale you got company's like Disney that end up wasting their money putting in the number of frames per second that they do. Anyway, my main gripe with this is that the character of lady death isn't at all believable. Clearly she's just a geek's jerk-off fantasy and not the tortured soul she's made out to be. Almost no time was spent on any character development. I probably would have liked this a bit more had I not gotten the Berserk anime series a while back. Berserk is the ultimate hell-themed revenge story. I suggest skipping Lady Death and get that instead, unless you were a fan of the comics and are curious.
