Living Hell Review

Review: Living Hell

Director: Shugo Fujii

I picked up this low budget Japaneses horror movie based on the fairly brutal cover, and a review on the back that says it's "like 'Dead Alive', 'Cemetery Man', and 'Evil Dead II'." It's also compared to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hitchcock, Brian De Palma, John Waters, Takashi Miike, as well as the popular J-horror titles. Yes, it is a scam. Whoever made those references must of have been high or been getting paid. Everything about this movie was crap, from the directing, to the acting, to the plot, to the music - especially the music. Each song consisted of about 2-3 notes played slowly on a cheap synthesizer. Imagine that playing while a pathetic guy making a really phony terrified face gets "tortured" by an old lady. And no the torture doesn't come anywhere close to being as gory or intense as some of those movies listed above. The real torture was me watching this pile of crap for an hour and 40 minutes. It's only saving grace was a couple of unintentional humor moments.
