Director: Wachowski Brothers
So why'd I go and see this over-bloated thing you ask? Well, I liked the first one when it came out. It had two themes typical adolecent males dream about: 1.) power-fantasy: Average geek gets amazing abilities that he doesn't have to work for, gets the chick, gets power and control over his environment. 2.) Everyone around you is being "controlled" whether they realize it or not, cept for you and your little group of freinds who want to fight the power! Then you throw some good old fashion gun fights and kung-fu in there and you got a wicked movie. So I thought the second one was going to be wicked too, well it was a pretty big let down. They let the religious shit get completely out of control, and those 2 themes I liked from the first one were no longer relevant. The action scenes were still pretty wicked, but they didn't have the intimacy that the first one had. Which brings us to the third installment. Basically more of the same. The dialogue was the worst yet... pure cheese. The action was better though - I felt like I was going to go into an epeleptic fit at one point. Definately some wicked visuals... like this one girl's giant boobs. Keanu, who's shitty acting fit the role for the clueless geek in the first one perfectly, can't pull off the god-like hero that neo is suppossed to be in this one at all. It's the exact problem Mark Hamill had as Luke Skywalker (who is basically the same character) in Return of the Jedi. Anyway, enough Matrix - watch the animatrix, that was way better than 2 & 3 combined. One last thing, Trinity looks kind of like a dude in this one.
