The first 5 minutes of Suicide Club more than make up for the price of it. 50 or so girls in their little school-girl uniforms hold hands and jump in front of subway train together, causing the entire area to get painted with their blood and body parts. HOLY FUCK that was crazy! The rest of the film is littered with brutal scenes, but nothing can top that spectacle. Its right up there with the lawnmower scene in Dead Alive or the Yakuza slaughter during Kill Bill. That scene, as well as some of the lesser but still very intense scenes, make a bizarre contrast with the happy tween pop music thats central to the plot. It turns the wholesome cheesy music into something creepier than music that's actually meant to be creepy (like Goblin). The movie is set up like a mystery, but a lot of the weird things that happen aren't really explained. So quite a bit of it feels dreamlike. My favorite kind of movie: atmospheric & over the top.

i agree, this movie was awesome. One of the first movies I saw in this genre that really got me into Asian cinema. The scene where they jump off the roof was also classic.
