Director: Alan Gibson
First off, don’t make the same mistake I did and buy this movie twice (the other copy is called Count Dracula and his Vampire Brides). I was expecting a lot more from this movie being that it’s a hammer flick starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. It had a promising start, young nude chick is sacrificed in a satanic blood ritual. It goes limp soon after. The plot involves a super man-made version of the bubonic plague that’s supposed to wipe out the world. This disease kills you in a matter of minutes, which really doesn’t make any sense when you think about it. How would a disease spread to other people if it immediately kills it’s host? Gapping plot holes aside, the actors themselves didn’t seem to be enjoying their roles this time. Lee had a few intense moments, but overall seemed bored. (In the wicker-man documentary, he openly spoke about his boredom with the late hammer roles). This was the most awkward and inept Dracula I think I’ve ever seen, he gets outwitted by a thorn bush!
