Artist: the cramps
first of all let me start by saying that if you dont know who the cramps are... then go fucking die....
and if you do know who the cramps are, then you probably already know if you are going to like this album or not -
they dont break new ground......
they dont have to....
they are the fucking cramps
but this album was somewhat of a suprise to me.....
see...
usually a new cramps album comes out... i throw it on, laugh at lux's lyrics.... admire his voice.... get turned on by poison ivy's guitar style..
then go on about my life feeling a little more cool
they made the perfect rockabilly/punk album with their first disk "bad music for bad people" and then just painted by numbers for the next couple of decades.... playing some of the most amazing, fun live shows on earth.... and making some really great albums.... but never quite 100% re-capturing the ferociously "cool" vibe of that first release
but this is their first release on their own label "vengeance records" - and you really get the feeling that they wanted to hit the ball out of the park with this one -
its like they used "bad music for bad people" as the template for what they wanted this album to be - and they succeed in re-creating every sick sick pleasure
dont let the cd layout or title fool you -
this is true rock n roll done by the pros
simply amazing
